About This Job

The Tait Generation Station comprises seven GE 7EA gas turbines paired with GE 7A6 electric generators, delivering 576 MW of nameplate capacity, supplemented by four GM diesel generators contributing an additional 10 MW. The Dragon Power portfolio includes four additional Ohio-based sites: the 125 MW Yankee Station in Centerville (featuring a solar facility), the 12 MW Monument Station in Dayton, the 12 MW Sidney Station, and the 25 MW Hutchings Station in Miamisburg. Collectively, these assets support the PJM system by providing both generation capacity and essential ancillary services.

Opportunity Summary

The Maintenance Planner plays a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of power generation assets by developing and executing maintenance schedules for critical equipment. Based at Tait Generation Station, this role also supports planning across the Dragon Portfolio, which includes several additional sites in Ohio. The Maintenance Planner leads preventive maintenance programs, coordinates major outages, manages CMMS workflows, and drives reliability efforts—working closely with plant personnel, vendors, and leadership to align maintenance strategies with operational goals and long-term performance targets.

Your scope of responsibility as Maintenance Planner will include the following primary functions:

Maintenance Planning, Execution, and Reliability

- Conduct regular planning meetings with Plant Management and others, as needed, to understand required work and coordinate plans with all stakeholders, including plant personnel, contractors, suppliers, and other parties.

- Develop and implement maintenance schedules for equipment—including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, generators, and condensers—based on manufacturer recommendations and plant needs.

- Plan and schedule major outages, set maintenance priorities, use Microsoft Project to create schedules, assign resources, track progress, and update stakeholders.

- Oversee preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce unplanned downtime.

- Perform general inspections based on duty cycles and assist in shaping long-term maintenance strategies.

- Lead reliability initiatives to identify recurring issues, apply reliability-centered maintenance, and enhance plant performance.

- Set contingency maintenance priorities for forced outages.

- Support and coordinate Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) to investigate failures and recommend corrective actions.

- Oversee maintenance and operation of high-voltage systems—including generators, switchgear, transformers, and auxiliary power systems—ensuring safe, reliable distribution.

- Conduct control loop tuning and optimization to improve responsiveness, stability, and process performance while minimizing deviation from setpoints.

Systems, Inventory, and Vendor Management

- Maintain and administer the plant’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS – Maximo), supporting efficient workflows for work orders, scheduling, asset tracking, and inventory control.

- Ensure accurate data entry and use CMMS reports for trend analysis, schedule optimization, and reliability improvement.

- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, work orders, and performance metrics; generate reports for management review.

- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and consumables for routine and emergency maintenance; ensure adequate stock to support continuous operations.

- Liaise with manufacturers, vendors, and service providers to procure parts, schedule work, and obtain technical support.

- Develop work plans and scopes for Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and vendor bid documents.

Budgeting, Training, and Emergency Response

- Assist in developing the annual maintenance budget, track spending, and identify cost-effective solutions that maintain safety and quality standards.

- Provide training and development for Mechanical and I&C staff to strengthen technical skills, equipment knowledge, and safety practices. Review and update Plant Training Qualifications and related manuals as needed.

- Collaborate with Operations to assess project conditions and isolation needs for planned maintenance, including preparing and executing lock-out/tag-out procedures.

- Support the management team in developing and implementing emergency response plans for events such as equipment failures, outages, or natural disasters—ensuring rapid mobilization and effective resolution to minimize downtime.

- Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by plant management.
