To perform moderate skilled mechanical work in conjunction, with preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on a variety of water and wastewater process equipment. Perform repairs on Authority motor vehicle fleet. Evaluate, troubleshoot, and adjust: motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, belt drives, chemical feeders, etc. and assuring proper operation and mechanical stability of all Authority equipment. Includes the application and interpretation of equipment manuals to ensure that service performed meets the manufacturer’s specifications. Responsible for developing a corrective plan of action including ordering replacement parts and supplies needed to complete the repairs needed. Document maintenance activity comments and labor hours into work orders using the Authority’s Asset Management System. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency problems (on-call) as needed to ensure all Authority Plants and Facilities maintain functionality and stay in compliance with all state-issued treatment permits and regulations.
Must have a minimum of four (4) years work experience in industrial maintenance and repair. Related course-work in military service, vocational/technical schools and/or manufacturer's service schools that focus on mechanics, electrical, HVAC or welding is preferred. Experience in Operation & Maintenance of Wastewater or Water Treatment, Collection or Distribution Systems, or other Industrial or Commercial Maintenance and repair preferred.
SPECIFICJOB REQUIREMENTS MAY INCLUDE (But are not limited to):
1. Must be a high school graduate (GED acceptable).
2. Must be able to obtain a Class D CDL within six (6) months of employment.
3. Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying eighty (80) pounds and continuously lifting and carrying medium loads.
4. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and work at heights to service equipment.
5. Must be willing to work in permitted confined spaces as needed.
6. Must be able to adapt to exposure of odors in a wastewater environment.
7. Must be able to perform basic computer data entry related to work performed on work orders and enter requisitions for parts orders.
8. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable on the Authority's auto insurance policy,
9. Must be able to drive Authority vehicles and stand call out duty to respond to emergencies after normal working hours.
10. Must maintain a residence that allows a reasonable response time-when called upon during emergencies or when on-call, quick response is expected.
11. Will perform all other assignments (housekeeping, wash vehicles, grass cutting, etc…) requested by Supervisor.
