Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic ensures the reliable operation of machinery and equipment in our aluminum mill by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC systems. This role demands technical expertise, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

•

Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on equipment and systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC components.

•

Conduct routine preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure operational reliability.

•

Fabricate, install, and maintain piping systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, cooling, gas) and structural components using welding tools and techniques.

•

Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems following blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

•

Maintain detailed maintenance records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including EPA guidelines.

•

Operate machinery such as grinders, drill presses, and hydraulic tools for diagnostics and repairs.

•

Train and guide less experienced maintenance personnel on maintenance standards and best practices.

•

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and uphold safety protocols in all maintenance activities.

Qualifications

•

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications in mechanical systems preferred.

•

Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance or completion of a formal apprenticeship program.

•

Proficiency in welding, fabrication, and the use of machine tools and specialized equipment.

•

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, blueprints, and schematics.

•

Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.

•

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.

Shift Schedule

•

Rotating 12-hour shifts.

•

May include 8-hour shifts or Monday-Friday shifts.

Physical Demands

•

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and stooping.

•

Regular use of hands for handling tools and materials.

•

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

•

Exposure to noise, heat, cold, metal dust, fumes, and vapors.

•

Working in confined positions to access equipment for maintenance and repair.
