Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled machinist with at least 5 years’ experience in programming and setup to assume a team lead/supervisory role. Must have a high level of self‑discipline, confidence in your machining ability and a strong attention to detail. Will be responsible for quality of every piece made from start to finish. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
•Set up and operate Mazak CNC lathes and mills
•Perform programming functions that include generation of lathe and mill programs with Mazatrol and CAM software
•Perform development/prototype and experimental machine work on various types of machine shop equipment
•Work on complex assignments requiring original design and preparation of necessary jigs, fixtures and tooling
•Run multiple machines and adapt or improvise tooling to accomplish results where operations require expert knowledge of machining technology
•Perform complex machining operations and trouble shoot/resolve complex problems; be able to adapt equipment to meet special machining requirements, and be able to set up and operate manual and/or CNC machines on a daily basis
•Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output
•Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
•Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages
•Act as a liaison with other team leads as needed
•Obtain, coordinate and distribute supplies as required
•Train new and existing employees on company procedures and job specifications
•Assist in demonstrating the use of equipment
•Assist employees in troubleshooting technical concerns, collaborate with personnel and work with managers to report and resolve any issues
•Escalate unresolved situations to management when appropriate
Preferred Experience:
•Mazak Horizontal & Vertical Machining Centers
•Mazatrol and CAM software Programming
Skills:
•Experience in using and/or operating manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, mills, VMC etc.)
•Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers, mics) to take accurate measurements consistently.
•Knowledge of the properties of metal like S/S and Carbon Steel, Aluminum
•Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
•Good at math with analytical abilities
•Physical stamina and strength to lift 50 lb items
•High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
