Job Description
KMC specializes in high-performance alloys and friction materials from raw materials to finished products under one roof in Orillia, Canada. Manufacturing unique heat resistant alloys and high nickel/chrome alloys primarily for the petrochemical industries, Kubota leads the industry in quality and advanced technology.
Key Function: Responsible to supervise the efforts of staff and initiatives for elements related to production for Kubota Materials Canada Corporation during the Overnight Shift; 11 PM – 7 AM, Sunday – Thursday, with the option to rotate as needed.
Major Responsibilities (not limited to):
•Remain current on immediate, short-term and long-term production requirements
•Ensure complete familiarity with the operation and safe emergency shut-down of all equipment within the department
•Model appropriate behaviour including communication, safe work habits, wearing of PPE, and adherence to KMC policies
•Schedule activities of personnel to meet production goals required for departments across all three shifts
•Liaise with other departments as required to maintain information and production flow
•Conduct thorough debrief with in-coming (next shift) Supervisor to ensure continuity of supervision
•Participate in Toolbox talks with staff and health and safety meetings
•Conduct audits for compliance, safety, production and/or quality as required to meet Kubota standards
•Teach, coach and lead staff to perform duties within established quality standards
•Monitor attendance of staff and flag concerns to Human Resources
•Liaise with Human Resources with identified/approved recruitment needs
•Engage and foster professional development of all staff and provide opportunities for learning within budgeted resources and individual need
•Promote excellent employee relations through respect, curtesy, tact and friendliness
•Ability to work independently and/or cohesively as part of a team and inspire, foster commitment and pride while promoting good employee relations with co-workers, staff, and other departments
•Develop performance standards for staff, communicate frequently on tasks, and conduct regular evaluations
•Report, investigate and take appropriate action on incidents in the workplace
•Display of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee matters
•Attentiveness to required paperwork and online entries (not limited to: payroll submission deadlines, reports, monitoring employee absences)
•Other related duties, as required
Education and Experience:.
•Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
•Minimum 5 years experience in a hands-on role in a manufacturing/fabrication facility
•Minimum 2 years experience leading staff or sub-contractors in an unionized production environment
•Commitment to lean methodology practices for process improvement
•Ability to read and interpret blueprints
•First Aid & CPR certificates, or willingness to obtain
•Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
•Strong communication skills, including conflict management of staff
Physical / Psychological Demands & Working Conditions:
•Indoor climate – conditions can very, including extreme heat (PPE provided)

•Must be able to stand/walk for prolong periods of time
