Supervise shift personnel for billet and rod handling, inspection, and movement.
Maintain rolling lineup to implement the production plan for the shift.
Conduct monthly, quarterly, and yearly rod and billet inventories.
Communicate with Production Planning and implement the plan for shipping rods and billets.
Coordinate movement of full and empty rail cars with Transportation Department personnel.
Inventory and order supplies necessary to complete the job.
Coordinate on-shift repairs to stationary and mobile equipment with Maintenance personnel.
Enter transactions in the AS400 and/or Prism systems.
Implement and maintain the plant job safety program on shift.
Conduct monthly safety and quality meetings with the shift crew.
Conduct all extra duties and tasks assigned by the General Foreman.
Supervise approximately 8 union employees in the Finishing and Billet Yard.
Create work requests using CMMS and track progress through the system to ensure we are being efficient and effective.
Education: One year certificate from college or technical school or high school diploma or GED.
Skills: Knowledge of rod mill operations and rolling mill equipment, excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure,
Mindset: Safety- focused, with a commitment to maintaining a secure and compliant work environment, hands-on leader who leads by example and fosters a culture of teamwork and accountability, proactive problem-solver who can think quicky and make sound decisions under pressure, and adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced, ever-changing manufacturing environment.
