What You Can Expect Working in the Service Lot/Field Technician Position

The Service Lot Technician based at the TLT yard in East St. Louis is responsible for ensuring operational readiness and high-quality service delivery for modular units stored on-site and at WRB Roxanna. This role plays a key part in maintaining fleet availability, minimizing service turnaround time, and supporting one of our large revenue-generating customers. This includes maintenance, inspections, off-rents, demobilizations, and infrastructure support for yard operations. This position is central to improving response time, reducing operating costs, and maintaining inventory accuracy, while reducing reliance on technicians from other regions.

Responsibilities

- Perform repair and preventative maintenance of modular units and containers at the TLT yard and WRB Roxanna.

- Assess off-rent and returned units for damage, initiate required service actions, and complete units for re-rent quickly and efficiently.

- Maintain daily workflow through the yard to ensure rapid unit turnover and unit readiness.

- Develop and sustain basic inventory system (manual or digital) and ensure accurate monthly inventory checks of service parts.

- Support layout, utility access, and general upkeep of the lot to ensure it remains a fully operational service hub.

- Act as the primary service liaison for WRB Roxanna, responding to service needs quickly and professionally.

- Maintain communication with Service Support, Logistics, and Sales teams to coordinate priorities and task scheduling.

- Ensure that all necessary tools, equipment, and parts are available and maintained for efficient operation.

- Promote and uphold a safe working environment; report and mitigate hazards.

- Perform minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural work to meet customer standards and ensure compliance.

- Operate welding equipment and hand tools as needed for metal repair and structural adjustments.

- Support generator coordination and site setup, including restroom access, utilities, and staging areas.

- Complete all assigned work orders in a timely and professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications

- 6+ months of construction, maintenance, or similar field experience.

- Proficiency using hand tools and power tools.

- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic arithmetic.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions consistently.

- Team player with solid communication skills.

- Basic computer literacy (e.g., email, work order systems).

- Able to obtain forklift or heavy equipment certification.

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in building maintenance or industrial construction, with demonstrated skills in one or more of the following: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, or HVAC.

- Experience troubleshooting problems and providing logical, effective solutions.

- Familiarity with modular construction

- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

- Experience with Sage/TrakQuip or similar inventory/maintenance software.

- Experience working independently in a remote yard setting.
