Mako US Corp (a subsidiary of Mako Mining Corp.) is currently seeking a qualified person for the position of Long Range/Strategic Mine Planning Engineer
About this role – Long Range/Strategic Mine Planning Engineer
- Develop, review and update life-of-mine (LOM) plans to maximize resource value while ensuring operational practicality
- Conduct strategic mine design, optimization, and scheduling using advanced mine planning software
- Evaluate alternative development strategies to support business decisions and corporate objectives
- Collaborate with geology, geotechnical, processing, environmental, and operations teams to ensure integrated planning and risk management
- Provide input to reserves and resources reporting, ensuring compliance with JORC, NI 43-101, or other relevant reporting standards
- Perform scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and trade off studies to optimize project economics
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic studies (expansions, acquisitions, divestments, etc.)
- Identify and implement best practices, innovative technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives in mine planning
- Prepare and present clear, data-driven reports and recommendations to management and stakeholdersThe above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.*
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering (or related discipline) - 5+ years of mine planning experience, with at least 2 years in long range/strategic planning roles
- Strong knowledge of mine design, optimization, and scheduling for open pit and/or underground operations
- Experience with equipment selection and estimation
- Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g.: MinePlan, Deswick, Vulcan, Datamine, MineSched, Whittle)
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills to evaluate mine economics

- Based out of Tucson office but will require frequent travel to mine sites
- Exposure to outdoor and mining environments, including open pit and underground settings
- May require FIFO / DIDO roster or extended stays during critical construction and operational phases
