With our continued growth in mining and metals, we’re looking for a mining engineer to join our outstanding Mining and Geology team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of challenging projects and collaborate with both BBA colleagues and clients to delivery practical, high-value solutions.

- Provide mining engineering and design services for open-pit mine studies (scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, detailed design and NI 43-101 technical reports), including:
- Importing block models
- Selecting mining methods
- Calculating cut-off grades
- Analyzing open-pit limits and designing mines
- Performing mine planning and production scheduling
- Calculating equipment fleets
- Evaluating mineral reserves
- Calculating capital and operating costs
- Contributing to financial models
- Writing and contributing to study reports
- Work in collaboration with our geology, rock mechanics, drill/blast and infrastructure teams
- Manage the mining component of large projects
- Liaise with clients regarding technical matters and be able to present results professionally
- Ensure quality service to clientèle, aiming to preserve BBA’s professional image

- Undergraduate or graduate degree in mining or geological engineering from a recognized university
- Experience working at a mining operation, engineering and/or project evaluation
- At least 5 years of experience in a relevant position
- Member of the PEO or possibility to become a member of a professional association for engineers
- High level of proficiency with open-pit mining design and planning software packages (Deswik/MineSight preferred)
- Experience in selecting mine equipment, estimating capital and operating costs
- Knowledge in the basics of budgeting, scheduling and financial modelling
- Understanding of the various components required to make a mine a successful operation (processing, tailings, infrastructure)
- Passion and aptitude for mentoring, training and sharing experiences with other engineers
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and spoken
- Enthusiasm for prospection and growth of the firm
- Fluent in the English language, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients in a professional and technical manner
- A willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, for varying durations and at times to remote locations
- Asset: functional second language (French or Spanish)
