Under the direction of the Station Manager or the Department Manager, as applicable, the Logistics Driver is responsible for transporting vehicles, equipment, parts, chemicals, and/or personnel between stations as needed, as well as to customer sites as needed. This role is also responsible for operating, driving, and caring for their assigned equipment, performing shop maintenance, and supporting the operations business. This position is considered to be a safety-sensitive position. The Logistics Driver role encompasses three levels of seniority based on skillset, license class, and assigned unit type. Specific definitions on the levels are as follows: Logistics Driver 1 – Class 5/3 (non-graduated, Canada) / Class C (U.S.) Role – Operate a 5-ton flat deck pickup with a trailer; Logistics Driver 2 – Class 1 (Canada) / Class A CDL (U.S.) Role – Operate a tractor trailer with cargo van; Logistics Driver 3 – Class 1 (Canada) / Class A CDL (U.S.) Role – Operate a tractor trailer unit transporting heavy equipment and machinery.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver vehicles, equipment, parts, chemicals, and/or personnel to various locations as directed and on an as needed basis.
- Ensure that vehicles are kept clean and orderly.
- Secure, inspect, and record approved loads prior to moving loads from their origin.
- Plan travel routes accordingly for efficient and cost-effective delivery.
- Physically deliver equipment in a safe and timely fashion. Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or by use of a hand truck.
- Regular inspection of equipment and maintenance per the Magnum procedure and maintenance schedule.
- Maintain appropriate documentation in the vehicle at all times (i.e. emergency contact list, registration & pink card, CVIP, safety fitness certification, TAC permit, weight scale phone numbers, and service requirements).
- Adhere to and enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with HSE legislation and DOT regulations.
- General assembly work that may require operating automated machinery and various power/hand tools.
- Keep the shop and yard clean, including: floors, washrooms, coffee rooms, and clean/wash bay.
- Put parts and tools away in identified storage locations.
- Perform laundry duties and ensure cleaned items are put away in their designated areas.
- Assist in the bulk plant when required.
- Logistics Driver 2 and Logistics Driver 3 roles will be expected to cover for B Train Driver or other class 1 roles they are deemed competent to perform, as needed.
- Participate in training and development activities.
- Other related duties as required.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, applicable to the level of role being filled (see above) with a clean driver’s record.
- Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
- Able to work overtime, be on call, work a rotational schedule, and travel, remaining fit for duty at all times.
- Ability to work independently and proactively without close supervision.
- Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and operation.
- Good computer skills and the ability to keep records and build reports and procedures.
- Able to perform all regular maintenance on equipment.
- Previously worked in a shop environment.
- Familiar with operating and maintaining automated machinery, hand and power tools.
- Maintenance knowledge, mechanically inclined, and have the ability to troubleshoot.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, reliable, and dependable.
- Flexible and able to adapt to change.
- Understands the importance of safety.

- Training in WHMIS and TDG.
