To effectively maintain, repair, and renovate all facilities owned by KCPS to enhance the instructional environment for Professional Staff and Students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Respond to work requests in a timely and courteous manner.*
Maintain a multi-tiered master key system for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, confidential, and secure operation for KCPS.*
•Maintain key files for all KCPS facilities.
Maintain an inventory of all materials necessary to operate* a functioning Locksmith Shop.
Maintain accurate* records of key and lock requests.
•Install and maintain door hardware.
Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair various types of mechanical and electrical locking devices.*
Cut new or duplicate keys using a key cutting machine and stamp with identification.*
•Respond to emergency repair calls.
•Work assignments may require interior and exterior work in varying weather conditions.
•Work assignments may require working on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
•Work assignments may be in any KCPS facility.
•Work assignments may include assisting with snow removal.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Ability to interpret, implement, and maintain pre-defined master key systems, ability to cut and issue keys, re-key, install, and repair locks and hardware.*
Possess basic computer skills and the ability to apply skills in day-to-day work.*
Possess and maintain a working knowledge of the Kansas City, Missouri, and Missouri building codes.*
•Capable of reading blueprints.
•Capable of working from design sketches.
•Capable of understanding and following written procedures and instructions.
•Capable of understanding and following verbal procedures and instructions.
•Possess knowledge of safe workplace practices.
•Capable of understanding complex, multiple-step written and oral instructions.

•Capable of identifying problems and developing appropriate action plans for the resolution of the problem
Capable of performing preventative maintenance* tasks as assigned.
Possess and maintain* a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
•Capable of providing personal transportation between job sites as necessary.
•Capable of transporting and securing tools as assigned.
•Capable of carrying tools and materials common to the trade.
•Must be able to work any shift.
•Capable of working from ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
Capable of working inside and outside in various weather conditions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Minimum of 6 years of successful experience in the trade.
Successful completion of a Certified Registered Locksmith Program, or equivalent experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.*
Experience with Schlage and Falcon master lock systems.*
•Capable of preparing labor and material cost estimates.
Capable of planning and assigning work.
