This position is responsible for conducting complex analyses, creating reports, drawing inferences, and making recommendations. Serves as a resource to EKPC and owner-members by performing analyses in areas of load research, load forecasting, market research, and a broad range of related areas. Conveys business information and intelligence to management at EKPC and the owner-members via reports, presentations, and other forms of communication.
This position is responsible for independently conducting complex analyses, creating reports, drawing inferences, and making decisions and recommendations. Serves as a subject matter expert to EKPC and owner-members by performing analyses in areas of load research, load forecasting, market research, and a broad range of related areas. Provides cross training to Load Forecasting Analyst. Serves as the lead analyst for assigned projects. Conveys business information and intelligence to management at EKPC and the owner-members via reports, presentations, and other forms of communication.

- Researches, analyzes, and evaluates data and information to make recommendations relating to short- and long-term load forecasting, market research, and load research.
- Provides analyses to a wide range of EKPC staff and management, and owner-members' staff and management.
- Makes recommendations to MOC staff for demand bid. Provides supplemental analyses required for decision making.
- Routinely uses mathematical, marketing, financial, economic, and statistical models to analyze data, interpret model output, and make recommendations based on the results.
- Uses modeling software, Python, and other programs, as well as analytical techniques to project and evaluate forecasts.
- Analyzes forecast performance and recommends modeling techniques based on past performance.
- Performs analyses using a variety of statistical techniques, including regression, time series analyses, payback/breakeven, net present value, variance analysis, uncertainty and risk analysis, linear programming, and others as necessary.
- Conducts external research by surveying, collecting, processing, and analyzing information related to the energy industry.
- Maintains information to support Key Performance Indicators.
- Maintains spreadsheets and databases.
- Communicates information and intelligence to management.
- Maintains and updates analytical and statistical models, spreadsheet and program based.
- Participates in the development of regulatory filings such as the Integrated Resource Plan, rate cases, PSC, and AG interrogatories.
- Prepares data for RUS and other agencies, and responds to questions.
- Serves as a liaison on PJM subcommittees and reports information to management.
- Provides data and responses to PJM.
- Serves as a member on in-house project teams, as well as external teams, including member system teams and consultants, as needed.
- Supports budgeting process including projecting MW and MWh sales by rate, providing variance analyses, and responding to questions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
: Bachelor’s degree in related area required. Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, or computer science preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
: Five (5) years of related experience.
- Must have an understanding of electric load forecasting techniques, load research program design, and the impact of these on the owner members.
- General understanding of regulatory compliance issues and requirements and nuances of the cooperative structure.
- Must have understanding of standard electric utility operating practices including markets such as PJM.
- Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of statistics.
- Strong computer application and modeling skills, spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentations.
- Knowledge of analytical/statistical software programs such as Python, R, SAS, Visual Basic, ITRON, and SPSS.
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization including external contacts.
