Lineman Pre Apprentice

In order to prepare for the Apprentice Lineman-Splicer apprenticeship, the incumbent is expected to acquire all the skills and technical knowledge necessary to equip the employee to perform all the work of the Apprentice Lineman-Splicer, Job 121.

Uses and maintains any equipment necessary to perform job. Uses and takes care of ropes and lines in serving Lineman with tools and equipment needed to perform their work.

Performs miscellaneous ground work such as digging holes, setting poles, installing anchors, carrying material and equipment, loading and unloading poles.

Assists the Lineman-Splicer in the performance of line work when framing poles, assembling and disassembling material such as guys, conductors, transformers, switches, cutouts, lightning arrestors, capacitors and street lights and other activities as directed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education: High School or equivalent

Testing: Test Physical Agility Test

General: Must be mechanically inclined and capable of absorbing training necessary for qualification in higher job classification. Must be D.O.T. certified to drive as required by law. Pre-Apprentices will be required to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) at their earliest opportunity. The CDL must be obtained prior to completion of the hot qualified portion of the Apprenticeship Program.
