Location: Cambridge District Office, 1715 Race Street Ext, Cambridge, MD 21613
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Lineman at our Cambridge District Office. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in building a career in the electric utility industry.
Education:
•High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
•Six months of on-the-job training will be provided.
•Applicants with mechanical, technical, and computer skills are preferred.
•Successful applicants must enroll in the Northwest Lineman's College Power Delivery Program and complete it within two years. (Program details will be provided by Choptank Electric and can be completed both on the job and at home.)
Job Knowledge:
•Basic knowledge of electricity is desirable.
•Must be able to develop an understanding of Cooperative construction specifications within a reasonable timeframe.
Abilities & Skills:
•Ability to learn pole climbing techniques and the safe use of tools and equipment for both overhead and underground de-energized lines.
•Must possess a valid Maryland Class "A restricted" or equivalent driver's license.
Working Conditions:
•Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
•Must be available to work irregular hours during emergencies.
•Residency Requirement: Must reside within a 27-mile radius of the Cambridge District Office to ensure availability during outages.
Physical Requirements:
•Must pass a physical examination and drug test upon employment and comply with ongoing physical examinations as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
•Must be capable of performing physical tasks such as climbing, bending, stooping, lifting, walking over rough terrain, and operating assigned equipment.
