Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Lead Purchasing Leader to oversee procurement activities supporting our Machine Shop, specifically in our Job Shop, Wireline, and Subsea departments. This individual will play a pivotal role in developing and executing effective procurement strategies, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely availability of raw materials and related purchasing needs to optimize operations and reduce costs.
Duties
•Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for raw materials, tools, supplies, and related commodities.
•Collaborate closely with Job Shop, Wireline, and Subsea department managers to understand departmental needs, ensure timely material availability, and streamline procurement processes.
•Analyze market trends, conduct supplier evaluations, negotiate pricing and contracts, and establish robust supplier relationships.
•Identify opportunities for cost savings through strategic sourcing and procurement efficiencies.
•Maintain accurate inventory levels, oversee order management, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
•Work collaboratively with Engineering and Quality Assurance teams to maintain procurement standards and address material quality concerns proactively.
•Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, market analysis, spending patterns, and supplier performance to senior management.
•Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with company goals.
•Manage vendor relationships to ensure quality and timely delivery of products.
•Prepare reports on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and cost savings initiatives.
Experience
•Minimum 5-7 years of experience in purchasing and procurement within a machine shop, manufacturing environment, or oil and gas industry.
•Proven experience working with Job Shop, Wireline, or Subsea equipment and operations is highly preferred.
•Demonstrated skill in negotiating and developing strategic relationships with vendors and suppliers.
•Strong knowledge of procurement processes, market analysis, and materials relevant to machining operations (metals, alloys, specialized tooling, etc.).
•Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
•Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
•Proven experience in vendor management, procurement management, or a related field.
•Strong skills in contract negotiation and sourcing strategies.
•Knowledge of inventory management principles and practices.
•Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
