Petro-Techna International is seeking a Lead Piping Designer / Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Toronto office. The ideal candidate will deliver piping design activities and provide technical expertise as part of the piping team and overall integrated engineering team providing engineering services for our portfolio of projects ranging from modular skid mounted solutions to more complex plant designs.
This role will report to the Engineering Manager for execution of day-to-day project duties.
- Overseeing the development of 3D plant design from design stage through to detailed engineering completion
- Modeling equipment and piping layout and piping design, considering factors such as equipment layout, thermal expansion, flow and process requirements, and safety and regulatory compliance
- Development and generation of piping related engineering deliverables including Facility Plot Plans, Piping General Arrangement drawings, Piping Isometrics, Pipe Support Lists, Piping Line Lists, and Material Take-Off’s
- Reviewing and verifying the piping design and deliverables from vendors, third parties, and their internal colleagues
- Reviewing and providing guidance and feedback on engineering drawings including P&IDs, Civil/Structural drawings, Mechanical Equipment drawings and Instrumentation details
- Ability to interpret stress related calculations and implications in piping design
- Able to interpret Civil Loading data with respect to Piping design to recommend and design optimal supports, foundations and platforms for piping systems
- Leading the Piping Engineering team in delivering project deliverables on schedule, within budget and in compliance with international engineering standards
- Project and priority coordination across various activities
- Mentoring and providing guidance to team members to support their growth and development
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Design Technology
- P.Eng designation preferred
- 10 plus years of relevant experience in Piping Design with a focus on Oil & Gas projects
- Proficiency with AVEVA E3D ,PDMS for 3D and AutoCAD for 2D design required
- Brownfield facility design and integration experience preferred
- Prior experience in modular skid package design preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively between team members and external vendors and clients
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Self-motivated with strong time management skills
