The Piping Engineer will support Wood’s new office in Sarnia, Ontario. The successful candidate should have a solid working knowledge of all aspects of piping as related to downstream hydrocarbon and petrochemical plants and will work on oil and gas projects for various clients.

- Provide support to the Operations Manager as Piping representative of the office
- Review piping design and engineering work and then take professional responsibility as Piping engineer of record for projects executed from Sarnia office for various clients.
- Ability to engage with the client representatives from a Piping perspective.
- Work in producing Piping estimates for new work scopes on sustainability type projects.
- Liaise and coordinate with Head office in Calgary and Global value engineering center in India
- Familiar with piping activities including Plant layout, Piping design and layout, Piping stress, Piping materials, and regulatory aspects.
- Conversant on Model review software like Navis and able to conduct formal Model reviews.
- Generating new Piping specifications, expanding current specifications, deviation on specifications.
- Generating technical decision records and project decision records as related to Piping engineering.
- Working knowledge on Pipe Stress Analysis as related to downstream projects of Upgrader, Petro Chemicals & Refinery Piping
- Design of Pipe Supports
- Familiarity with Transient Analysis
- Create, specify and maintain data sheets for Specialty Piping (SP) items, such that the items can be purchased
- Review offers from suppliers and performs a technical bid evaluation of the materials offered
- Make technical assessments and recommendations when required
- Post purchase order placement, review and approve supplier documentation for the related piping components
- Liaise with other engineering disciplines: Process, Instruments, Static Equipment, Procurement and Material Control
- Generation of Piping MTO’s includes sub-components like steam tracing, pipe insulation, pipe coating/painting.

- Undergraduate degree in Engineering
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a detailed engineering environment, preferably with EPCM multinational companies
- Canadian experience in conceptual, front-end and detailed engineering on large capital projects in oil & gas including Refinery, Upgrader, SAGD, and Petrochemicals
- Hands-on field experience in operations and reliability/maintenance engineering, inspections, workshop repairs and turnarounds (an asset)
- Knowledge of the following codes: B31.1 Power Piping, B31.2 Fuel Gas Piping, B31.3 Process Piping, Z662 and API codes
- Up-to-date knowledge of piping materials and technical evaluation of new products/methods
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
