JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Lead Person, Non-Ferrous Warehouse

Facility: Cheyenne, WY

Reports to: Yard Supervisor / Faciliy Manager

Date: August, 2025

Summary

Buys, processes & sorts scrap and supervises staff in non-ferrous scrap duties.

- Buys, processes, sorts scrap to specifications; assures quality of purchased materials.

- Operates the non-ferrous scale

- Ensures scrap is sorted & processed according to safety and customer requirements

- Inspects inbound and outbound material

- Utilizes all yard operating equipment including forklifts, skid steer, wheel loader and cranes as necessary

- Meets with customers and vendors alike in order to develop business and to maintain ongoing relationships.

- Supervises non-ferrous yard staff; assists with recruitment, orientation of new employees, discipline and performance management

- Completes any production and/or inventory reports as necessary

- Other responsibilities as assigned

Safety:

Wears all necessary PPE when working in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow safety standards, may result in loss of position.

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required. Prior experience operating heavy machinery, including cranes, forklifts, wheel loaders, etc. required. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs and 100+lbs on 2-person lift.

Some mathematical aptitude necessary. Must have working knowledge of computer programs (i.e. Word, Excel) and other office equipment. Ability to develop team environment with employees. Must be able to effectively interact with customers and vendors.
