Qikiqtani Industries Limited (QIL) is a 100% Inuit-owned company of Qikiqtaaluk Corporation and provides Inuit owned industrial capacity to companies and developers in the Canadian Arctic with primary focus on the mining, oil, and gas sector.
QIL is seeking a experienced, enthusiastic and hardworking Housekeeper who can lead the team. Rotation would be 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off. The candidate should be dynamic, hands on, high energy and detail oriented with plenty of housekeeping experience. This is a position of trust and discretion as housekeepers are frequently in the living spaces of site employees.
This includes but is not limited to the following:
· Deliver daily pre-shift safety toolbox meeting to housekeeping staff, on time and in uniform, and participate in stretch and flex.
· Complete and keep on their person a FLRA booklet during shift.
· Housekeeping lead is directly responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary living accommodation and common areas in the camp as well as several remote complexes, offices and wash cars.
· Train and direct the cleaning of dorm rooms; changing beds, washing floors, vacuuming carpets; cleaning washroom toilets, sinks, showers; dusting and sanitizing surfaces such as phones, tv’s, heaters, doorknobs, tv remotes, light switches; stocking paper products and removing garbage.
· Train and direct the cleaning of common areas such as gym, tv room, games room, board rooms, offices, hallways, washrooms, locker rooms, laundry rooms, lobby, boot rooms, smoke shacks, clinic, etc.
· Launder linen, launder PPE, fill water bottles, stock cleaning carts and stock janitor rooms.
· Identifying potential fire hazards and maintenance issues to coordinator.
· Conduct performance reviews and participate in the disciplinary process.
· Develop and maintain time management guidelines such as shift start and finish and break times; task time targets.
· Develop and maintain room, common area and remote location cleaning schedules.
· Develop, maintain room, common and remote facility cleaning audits.
· Communicate with BIM travel and security to determine and manage room check outs and transfers.
· Responsible for Firewatch employees as they report directly to housekeeping lead.
· Learn the BIM programs such as Human Logistics and SAP.
· Instruct and monitor BIM and QIL staff conduct policies.
· Comply with all BIM and QIL health and safety directives.
· Must have 5+ years of experience as a Housekeeper
· Must have 2+ years of previous experience as a Lead Housekeeper
· Large scale camp work experience is an asset.
· Must have excellent management skills as the position requires the management of crews on shift work rotation and multiple camps.
· Must have good administrative skills and proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
· Must have excellent time management and organizational skills.
· Lead Housekeeper must be flexible, adaptable and able to prioritize/reprioritize based on staff level, sudden flight and crew changes or due to operational demands.
· Food safe certification and First Aid certification an asset.
· Must be able to work alone in an office if required.
· This position may require pre-deployment TB test, medical questionnaire, criminal back ground check, etc.
· Online BIM orientation as well as on site BIM and QIL orientations are required.
· As a lead, you will be required to complete Mine site supervisor course from BIM training department.
· Mandatory Uniform and PPE will be provided. It is recommended however that an employee bring their own safety (CSA green patch and orange patch for electrical shock) footwear as this is a very personal fit/preference.
