The Landscape Gardener maintains the landscape of all owned or occupied facilities within a geographical region of Sierra Energy Research Park (SERP) and Willowbank (Mendocino Railway) in Davis, CA. The Landscaper will assess and consider the daily safety of our facility, employees, visitors, and the security of our assets. This position will also perform facilities maintenance as needed.

Landscaper Gardener's Responsibilities
•Landscaping duties including mowing, blowing, mulching, pruning, and planting for all company facilities except for the vineyard at Willowbank.
•Installation and maintenance of landscaping sprinkler systems.
•Applies herbicides, fertilizers, and pesticides using safe techniques and maintains HAZMAT files.
•Ongoing cleaning of the grounds and the buildings’ exteriors.
•Notifies management of any indoor/outdoor items that may pose a danger to employees, tenants, or visitors.
•Installation of walkways, flower beds, landscaping etc.
•Other duties as assigned.
Landscape Gardener's Other Duties When Needed
•Performs preventive building maintenance duties, caulks windows and doors, repairs and replaces broken windows.
•Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.
•Performs interior and exterior repairs, patching and painting facilities to combat ongoing wear-and-tear.
•Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and repairing ballast and light fixtures.
•Assembles and moves furniture, hangs pictures and bulletin boards, moves and sets up tables and chairs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Skilled in creative landscaping design skills and ability to care for potted plants preferred.
•Knowledge of building plumbing and outdoor irrigation systems.
•Knowledge of electrical (not including high voltage or 3-phase power systems).
•Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds.
•Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
•Skilled in using standard powered and non-powered tools.
•Ability to communicate effectively.
•Ability to prioritize and manage multi-functional tasks.
•Ability to work effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints.
•Must be able to travel to locations in Davis.
Experience
•Minimum 2 years work experience in landscaping.
•Demonstrated experience in following safety procedures and practices and recognizing hazards.
•Certified in spraying pesticides preferred.
Working Conditions and Travel
Exposure to hot and cold weather 90 degrees/32 degrees while working outside. Work is performed mostly outside in elements. Minimal travel between worksites and to purchase equipment/supplies as needed. Must be willing and able to wear appropriate protective gear and safely equipment, including safety glasses, dust mask, respirator and hard hat.
Physical Requirements
•Be able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time.
•Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to bend and stoop while lifting.
•Must be comfortable and able to work on a ladder of 20 feet.
Other Requirements
Must have reliable transportation to travel between worksites and valid driver license with acceptable driver history. Ability to pass pre-employment, post-offer background checks, drug screenings and lift test.
