J&L Laboratories has an opening for a full-time Laboratory Technician at our oilfield laboratory in Midland, TX. The ideal candidate would be responsible for receiving customer samples, logging them into our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), entering test results and reporting LIMS, and operating a wide variety of equipment in both the routine analytical and performance testing sections of the laboratory.
- Interface with customers
- Receive and log samples into LIMS
- Operate all routine production chemistry and performance testing lab equipment
- Enter test results into LIMS and assist with LIMS reporting
- Constantly achieve higher efficiencies by improving processes
- Maintain instrument maintenance and calibration schedules within LIMS, notifying the Laboratory Manager of any issues
- Assist as requested in the office and in the laboratory
- Shows initiative and takes ownership of training- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or other science related field or 2+ years of direct industry related laboratory experience in lieu of degree
- Good Data Management Skills (Excel and/or Other Reporting Packages)
- Safety oriented for work in laboratory environment
- Ability to multi-task
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Strong technical skills in information systems
- Desire to learn oilfield chemical laboratory operations
- Experience in running routine analytical testing equipment such as ICP-OES, IC, XRD, XRF, and GC-FID
- Experience in running Millipore analysis, oil carryovers, and wet chemistry solids analysis
- Experience with LIMS and/or reporting systems
- $23/hour
- Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be necessary to produce results critical to our customers and satisfy occasional rush orders
