Primary Duties
•Prioritize pipe and coating lab testing and develop testing schedules in support of production requirements.
•Implement and monitor lab “hold/release” process.
•Program, maintain, and supervise daily operations of all laboratory and test preparation equipment.
•Conduct or arrange the repair and calibration of all laboratory equipment as well as company precision measuring equipment.
•Prepare purchase requisitions for materials, calibrations, and services needed.
•Maintain company records, including test records and calibration records.
•Train laboratory, test preparation, and clerical personnel.
•Enforce company policies and procedures, including initiating discipline and ensuring adherence to the safety program.
•Update lab procedures and ensure compliance to procedures by test preparation, laboratory, and clerical personnel.
•Conduct, direct, and document specified destructive testing and evaluation.
•Review lab test results for accuracy.
•Initiate corrective action.
•Communicate and coordinate with other departments on work, materials, and information flow.
•Manage third party lab services.
•Schedule and supervise hourly and contract lab personnel.
•Maintain and ensure that workforce time records, production, accident, work, and discipline reports are completed accurately and timely.
•Perform quality audits, as necessary for conformance with the quality management system.
Knowledge Required
•Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
•Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
•Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
•Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
•Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
•Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
•Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
•Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
•Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
•Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.
•Knowledge of electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. Proficient in computers, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Education & Work Experience
•Associate degree, or equivalent industry-based certifications.
• T hree or more years of work experience in QC inspections / tests, including NDT, Mechanical testing, and dimensional inspection.
•Experience with pipe or coating facility processes and operations.
•Experience with pipe industry standards including API, CSA, ASTM and coating standards.
•Experience in quality auditing.
•Good understanding of ISO Quality Standards and Quality Management Systems.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
•Bachelor’s degree (Preferred)
•Experience with statistical tools or analysis. (Preferred)
