Atlas Oil’s Strategy and Analytics team builds for-purpose and bespoke trading models, risk models, and insight capabilities. In conjunction with traders, the team builds capabilities that enable data-driven decision making and risk management. The team works with traders in Natural Gas, NGLs, Refined Products, and Ethanol.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Junior Analyst to join our Supply and Trading Team in support of our weekly Diesel Balance Sheet construction and worldwide cargo movements to track imports/exports. This role combines market analysis, data mining and research to compile reporting to understand the potential weekly draw or build in diesel inventories in the US market. The successful candidate will deliver actionable insights, manage daily headlines and market data to forecast balances weekly and monthly.
Key Responsibilities
- Track market fundamentals: supply/demand, flows, infrastructure, arbitrage.
- Monitor policy, regulatory, and new energy developments.
- Prepare presentations and materials for traders.
- Participate in internal market meetings and present results.
- Investigate differences in API/DOE data against internal forecasts.
- Develop new and better ways to mine data and produce accurate results.
- Track cargos around the globe to forecast imports and exports out of and into the US.
- Background in the refined fuels commodity space.
- Experience in market analytics, DOE and API data flows.
- Familiarity with the evolving energy landscape.
- Proficiency in Excel and preferably python coding skills.
- Strong commercial and communication skills.
- Ambition to progress into a front-office trading or commercial role.
- Able to take direction and work towards a goal.
- Intellectual curiosity that pushes you to find new and better ways to produce accurate data.
Education / Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field required.
