Journeyman Powerline Technician

Wild Rose Rural Electrification Association Ltd. (WRREA) is a Utility with its own distribution network. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with significant distribution experience to join our team as a Journeyman Powerline Technician in Westlock, Alberta. Applicant must live in, or be willing to relocate to Westlock.

This is a full time Monday to Friday role with “on call” rotation requirements with the opportunity for overtime hours in the event of power outages and or emergency situations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Erect and maintain distribution system

· Install, maintain and repair overhead and underground powerlines, cables and insulators, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers and other associated equipment

· Ensure equipment, tools and materials are maintained in operable/ safe working order and supply

· Ensure company vehicles are stocked/ routinely checked serviced and equipped in readiness for any emergency

· Ensure shop area is kept in a clean and orderly manner.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

· Journeyman Powerline Certification/ Red Seal

· Strong distribution system knowledge and skills

· Valid Driver’s License

· Familiarity with Trucks, Aerial Lift Boom, Digger Derricks, Skid Steers

· Self-starter with the ability to work productively and independently

· Team Player

· Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

· Ability to read and interpret diagrams and mapping
