CDE Lightband, the municipal electric and broadband power provider for the City of Clarksville, offers electric, television, internet, and phone service to customers within the city limits. CDE Lightband serves over 80,000 metered homes and businesses with electric service, and over 30,000 customers with broadband services over our Fiber-to-the-Premise Network.
To better meet our customers' needs, CDE Lightband will offer a weekend shift for full-time Operation Line Crews (as defined in Policy 3-23). We are looking for a candidate to fill the position of Journeyman on our Electric Line Worker Team. Applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience in electric distribution line work.
All Applicants should have the stated experience, including completion of a five-year line worker apprenticeship program approved by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, to have received a Journeyman Standing.
Journeyman Electric Line Worker

Job Summary
Highly skilled and trained position, expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative while working under the supervision of the Foreman and General Foreman. Incumbents construct and maintain the overhead and underground electrical service distribution systems. Responsibilities may include the installation, repair, replacement, and inspection of equipment and materials required to transmit and distribute electric power. Work performed may need to be done while the system is energized. Responsibilities also include collaborating with the Foreman to train Apprentice Line Workers, furthering their skills and abilities, and promoting personal development and continuous learning. Employees are also expected to maintain an inventory of standard parts and equipment and keep records of activities as required by policy and procedure, as well as uphold the highest safety standards as outlined in the American Public Power Association (APPA) Safety Manual and any other applicable safety policies, rules, and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Installs, maintains, and repairs electric systems, which may include Constructing, installing, removing, and servicing secondary distribution lines both overhead and underground, as well as performing work on energized and de-energized lines. It frequently requires digging when installing poles, anchors, and underground lines.
•Effectively capable of climbing utility poles to perform work when necessary, safely, and meet all safety requirements on an annual basis
•Operates vehicles of various sizes, weights, and descriptions safely and cautiously, following all local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including DOT and Commercial Driver's License requirements.
•Attend regular training as required; participate in any other meetings, training, or other required programs as specified, including all safety meetings, and maintain and follow all safety requirements as outlined by CDE Lightband, APPA, OSHA, TOSHA, and any other local, state, or regulatory agency.
•Monitors and maintains inventory of parts and equipment while working with warehouse personnel to maintain accurate outgoing and incoming connections with assigned work; notifies supervisor when levels are low
•Working with Foreman to respond to and resolve customer complaints, explaining programs, policies, and procedures
•Prepares and maintains various operational reports and paperwork to be submitted as required, including safety reports, work orders, and other documents as assigned.
•Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Experience: Five years of experience in electric distribution line work, to include completion of a five-year line worker apprenticeship program approved by the DOL, Bureau of Apprenticeships and Training
Certifications & Licenses: Completed Apprenticeship Training to receive Journeyman Standing Commercial Driver's License, CPR/AED, or ability to obtain upon hire
Other Requirements: An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job is also considered

•Skilled in reading and comprehending training documents
•Skilled in and the Ability to perform physical work during extreme conditions for the entire duration of the workday and beyond into extended hours if necessary, if duties of the job require.

Working Conditions
•Indoor & Outdoor working position, requiring incumbents to travel from the office to the worksite via company vehicle.
•Requires constant indoor and outdoor work with potential for extreme outdoor temperatures

•Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, dust, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, intense noises, environmental disturbances, workspace restrictions, and travel.
•Position will be scheduled for 'On-Call' Rotation requiring weekend and holiday work
•Reside no farther than 30 minutes (max) driving from the main office.
