- To construct and maintain energized overhead and underground distribution lines effectively and efficiently.
- Read and understand geographical maps, staking sheets, specification sheets, complex diagrams, and all circuits in the system.
- Prepare and set poles for new service.
- Restore power in a safe and efficient manner.
- Repair outdoor lights and install secondary arrestors.
- Assist with line construction.
- Responsible for new meter sets and meters.
- Assist with switching procedures when necessary.
- Perform the duty of stand-by or on-call in rotation with other crew members.
- Perform work duties of crew chief and service technician in their absence.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have a minimum of five years' prior experience.
- Must take and successfully complete apprenticeship training and spend one year as a lineman.
- Ability to interact courteously and professionally with the public and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work.
- Knowledge of work methods, occupational hazards, and safety codes for performing line crew operations and maintenance work.
- Use software applications such as work order systems, Microsoft Office programs, and smart devices.
- Valid Class A CDL and driver's license required.
- Must have or receive CPR and First Aid certification.
- Work is performed primarily outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions.
- Position requires competing demands; may require occasional work beyond regular business hours.
- Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment.
