You’ll train and work directly alongside experienced Lead and Line Technicians, learning the ropes — and the wires — through a structured progression of hands-on fieldwork.
- Learn the basics of overhead and underground (URD) construction
- Assist with line and facility construction
- Load/unload poles, transformers, and materials
- Maintain orderly storage of tools and materials on your vehicle
- Respond to after-hours calls and emergencies
- Understand job hazards (falls, electric shock, traffic, falling objects) and use safety equipment
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Perform construction/maintenance tasks under supervision of a Journeyman Line Technician
- Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions
- Operate and maintain equipment like hydraulic booms, trenchers, backhoes
- Assist with pole hauling, framing, and setting
- Maintain assigned trucks and tools
- Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
Apprentice I – Preparing for the Next Level
- Work on energized and de-energized lines under supervision
- Patrol lines and report any damaged or unsafe components
- Act as groundman, equipment operator, and lineman
- Ensure tools, trucks, and equipment are used properly and in good condition
- Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or GED (required for all levels)
- Valid CDL (required for all levels)
- Forklift certification (required for Apprentice I; or willing to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in all weather
- Positive attitude and strong team mindset
- Availability for overtime, non-standard hours, and emergency response
Advancement Path – Earn While You Learn
Apprentice III – New to the Field?
- No experience required
- Learn the basics: safety, equipment, line work
- CDL required- 3+ years of experience in line work preferred
- Must have completed Apprentice III
- CDL required- 3+ years of experience in overhead/underground line work preferred
- Must have completed Apprentice III & II
- CDL and forklift certification required
