This position requires an employee to work between 20-25 hours per week during the school semesters, and 40 hours per week during summer, not to exceed 1,500 hours in a calendar year. Each semester, undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and graduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
INTERN GUIDELINES:
Students who have completed at least one year of college and are enrolled as a full-time student may apply. Must be enrolled full-time in a degree seeking program. A student’s intern position will end within three months after graduation.
Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, 20-25 hours per week.
Under the direction of the Supervisor-IT Business Intelligence and Analysis or designee, this role will be assisting the following areas, but is not limited to: the development of Business Intelligence solutions, enterprise reporting, and predictive analytics to address key business challenges and support data-driven decision making across the organization. Individual must possess the ability to manage multiple diverse tasks simultaneously and have a strong understanding of how data flows across business processes. This position collaborates closely with all areas within IT and with system/data owners to integrate, analyze, and present data from City Utilities’ enterprise technology systems, enabling users to uncover insights, forecast trends and make proactive decisions.
1. Works closely with key decision makers and IT Business Analysts to determine how data and information should be presented across the organization.
2. Assists with design, development and maintenance of business intelligence solutions, including enterprise reporting and custom analytics for both in-house and third-party systems.
3. Develops key expertise in data analytics and visualization techniques.
4. Prepares database queries as requested by management or during the discovery process and provides ad hoc reports.
5. Performs other project-related duties or functions critical to business operations.
6. Performs other related duties as required or assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. The completion of one year of college and pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field is required. Experience with business analytics and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI, SharePoint, MS Access, Excel macros, Crystal Reports and Visio.

Physical Requirements:
Typically, sedentary work. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communication is required. Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and close visual acuity to operate a computer is required.
Working Conditions:
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment.
- New hires are informed of the requirements of the Cooperative Education (Co-op) Program upon hire, and incumbents must continue to meet the requirements each semester in order to continue employment. Co-ops who do not meet the requirements may be ineligible for the Co-op Program and their employment may be terminated.
- Employee must remain alert and aware of their surroundings at all times and maintain the ability to respond to changing circumstances in a timely manner.
