Summary of Position:
The material handler is responsible for the physical movement, storage, and management of goods within the shop. The material handler operates forklifts, checks inventory levels, and ensures accurate product placement, all while adhering to safety regulations and maintaining efficient shop operations. The material handler is responsible for building subcomponent jobs for welding and assembly.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•Responsible for moving WIP throughout the building
•Accurately record in ERP when work reaches an assembly point
•Daily Inspection of Forklift and completing maintenance work order requests as required
•Confirm count and match part to drawings before moving to next stations.
•Maintain and organize locations for parts waiting to go to weld and assembly
•Print all assembly and weld maps to confirm all parts are present before giving to
•department (this includes hardware)
•Reports any material damage or discrepancies to Quality & Purchasing Department.
•Maintains clear in/out locations in each department
•Help in purchasing department as requested or needed.
•Adhere to all safety protocols related to operating heavy machinery, including proper use of personal protective equipment
Qualifications, Trainings, & Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Attention to detail: Accurately identifying and recording inventory details, minimizing errors
•Forklift operation skills: Proficiency in operating a forklift safely and efficiently
•Basic computer literacy: Entering data into inventory systems and utilizing warehouse management systems
•Organizational skills: Keeping the warehouse clean and organized, maintaining proper product placement
•Teamwork: Collaborating with other warehouse staff to meet operational goals
•Communication skills: Effective communication with warehouse staff, drivers, and other departments regarding deliveries and issues
•Basic math skills: Ability to calculate quantities and verify order accuracy
Physical/Mental Demands:
•Regularly required to lift/carry 20 to 40 pounds occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently
•Regularly required to bend, stoop, kneel and reach
•Regularly required to stand and walk
•Regularly required to push or pull objects up to 40 pounds
Environmental Working Conditions:
•Work performed in a shop environment
•Environment is not climate controlled
•May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another during the assembly process
•The noise level in the work environment, at times, can be loud
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.24 - $19.00 per hour
