JOB SUMMARY
The Lead - Fleet Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining and repairing automotive and heavy equipment and provides guidance to the Fleet Maintenance Technicians including assigning, prioritizing and checking work performed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS•Provides guidance to Fleet Maintenance Technicians by assigning job duties, prioritizing and checking on completion of work assignments; documents and provides input of Fleet Maintenance Technician's work effectiveness and performance to Foreman.
•Oversees, assesses, plans and coordinates scheduled and unscheduled repairs of automotive and heavy equipment.
•Diagnoses, maintains and repairs automotive and heavy equipment.
•Applies and practices a safe work environment and applies federal, state and local environmental regulations.
•Researches and updates preventive maintenance schedules, creates work orders for work performed.
•Performs other duties assigned.
DECISION MAKING
•This person works under general supervision.
•This person plans and schedules work for days and weeks at a time.
•This position provides guidance to a group of Fleet Maintenance Technicians.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•High School Diploma or GED.
•Four years' experience diagnosing, maintaining and repairing automotive, trucks, and heavy equipment.
•Valid class "A" Commercial Texas drivers' license.
•Must be a Certified Texas Department of Public Safety Vehicle Inspector.
•Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Automotive Service Excellence Certifications.
•Earned certification of completion in automotive technology or related field from a technical school.
•Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Access software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical requirements include lifting up 50 pounds, requires visual acuity, speech and hearing. Working conditions are in an office/ shop environment and travels between service centers. Other hazards Include driving, traffic, sudden temperature changes, Extreme temperatures and rain, insects, chemicals, fumes, dust and poor ventilation.
May be required to work hours other than regular daytime schedules such as on-call, rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays.
