Purpose
Under the direction of the Project Lead of Grid Innovation, the Intern will carry out planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement, execution, reporting, research, and analysis to grid innovation and AI projects. The Intern will also provide general administrative support to the Grid Innovation team at Alectra’s GRE&T Centre.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate project management activities, including developing and tracking project plans, schedules, timelines, and other project management documents
- Corresponding with and supporting internal and external project stakeholders
- Reviewing project deliverables against specifications
- Developing reports, presentations, and marketing materials to communicate project updates and provide background information to various stakeholders
- Composing proposals and/or RFPs and preparing procurement documents
- Track and forecast project invoices and prepare financial reporting for funding agencies
- Organizing, filing, and maintaining project documents and user manuals of the developed solutions
- Scheduling and coordinating meetings, site visits and events
- Taking meeting minutes, and following up on action items
- Conduct market research on market size, solution/competitive landscapes, business models and strategies related to smart grid, clean technologies, and the transformation of utility industry
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills And Qualifications
Education & Specialized Knowledge- Post-Secondary education in business, finance, economics, and/or sustainability management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General knowledge of energy/utility industries is an asset
- High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite – Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Prior professional and/or student experience (1-2 years) demonstrating the range of duties expected for this position
- Project coordination experience is an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet challenging deadlines while working on multiple projects and initiatives.
- Strong business plan writing skills
- Strong qualitative and quantitative research abilities to assess information and provide clear analysis and recommendations.
- Adaptable and flexible, with an ability to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment and quickly learn new and unfamiliar technologies.
- Have a strong interest/passion for energy, clean tech and sustainability.
- Ability to build and maintain strong collaborative and collegial working relationships with team members, internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Energetic and enthusiastic team player.
- Strong results orientation, with excellent attention to detail.
- Must hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license.
- Work performed in an environment with minor or almost no exposure to disagreeable or challenging working conditions
- Position will be based in Alectra’s Southgate office but with occasional travel to other Alectra offices and project sites as required, with travel expenses to be reimbursed as per Alectra policy
