The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing San Antonio high school and college students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on-experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to perform, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used. Applicants must reside in the San Antonio Metropolitan area and be currently enrolled in school or recently graduated to qualify.
The Network Engineering team fields issues escalated for network connectivity. The intern will be assisting Network Engineering with design, installation, and management of network infrastructure, ensuring reliable connectivity and security for our organization.
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure optimal functionality.
- Perform routine system updates, patches, and security configurations.
- Work closely with senior engineers to support network design and improve infrastructure scalability.
- Assist in documenting network configurations, topologies, and changes.
- Provide technical support to end-users regarding network connectivity and performance issues.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network systems with other IT services.
- Help implement network security measures and monitor for potential security risks or breaches.
Must be currently enrolled in a related discipline.
Must currently reside within 120 miles of CPS Energy Headquarters.
Demonstrate an interest in a career applicable to the utility industry.
Attend all activities sponsored by CPS Energy during employment.
Pass a drug test and background screen prior to employment with CPS Energy.
