Intern - Accounting

STP’s Accounting Internship Program is designed to provide students with practical experience in accounting processes, financial reporting, and compliance within a corporate environment. This program will offer exposure to general accounting, auditing, tax, and regulatory compliance tasks, helping students apply their academic knowledge in real-world scenarios while contributing to the company's financial operations.

Responsibilities

The intern will support the accounting team with a variety of financial tasks and assignments.

Responsibilities will include:

- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and reports.

- Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

- Supporting the month-end and year-end close processes.

- Conducting account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.

- Assisting with tax compliance and audits.

- Documenting and improving accounting procedures to increase efficiency and compliance.

Requirements

- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.

- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

- Currently enrolled in a 4-year institution and pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures.

- Must be in good academic standing with your school.
