Summary
The Instructional Designer is responsible for partnering with support organizations and subject matter experts to develop and deliver learning solutions utilizing an agile ADDIE process.
Responsibilities
•Work with the learning team to design, develop high quality training materials including eLearning, in-person and virtual classes and presentations, micro-learning, job-aids, video-based, etc.
•Apply adult learning principles and accessibility standards to ensure inclusivity and knowledge retention.
•Adhere to internal organizational editorial styles and branding guidelines.
•Maintain course updates in the Learning Management System.
•Assist with LMS operations.
•Use Articulate 360, Vyond, Camtasia, and other software to develop courses.
•Manage instructional design projects and responsibilities independently, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
•Create design documents and storyboards outlining course objectives, content, assessment, and evaluation criteria.
•Ensure ongoing compliance by proactively completing required training and documentation in accorance with organizational standards.
•Implement the requirements of DOE Handbook DOE-HDBK-l078-94; DOE Standards DOE STD-l060¬93; ANZI/OSHA training requirements; and, other DOE orders and policies.
•Develop and execute Legacy Management Support (LMS) program learning and development, training, communication of educational and learning materials, and other requirements for contract employees, all subcontractors, and courses for the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Legacy Management (LM), LMS program.
•Develop assessments and feedback mechanisms to measure learning effectiveness and identify and implement areas of improvement.

Requirements:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with 7 years applicable experience or Masters degree with 5 years applicable experience.
Degree preferred in adult education, science, or related field.
Applicable experience is required in instructional design and or adult education.
Portfolio with examples of work will be requested. In-person test during final interview will be conducted.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
•Working knowledge of modern adult learning principles and techniques.
•Experience creating online modules and instructor-based training sessions, instructor- led training guides, supporting materials following an ADDIE (or similar) instructional design process.
•Ability to organize employee and student curriculums based on job field or functional areas of responsibility.
•Working knowledge of a wide range of instructional technologies including the ability to assist instructional faculty and program staff in choosing/implementing the best methods to meet the program’s identified needs.
•Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
•Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Products, Articulate 360 Suite, or similar platforms.
•Knowledge of instructional design software suites and learning management systems (Absorb or similar Learning Management Systems)
•Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly evolving and fluid environment; must be able to manage multiple projects, sometimes on tight deadlines, while liaising with multiple project managers.
•Proficiency with eLearning and/or video development software (Articulate 360 Storyline and Rise, Camtasia, and Vyond) and Microsoft 365.
