Summary: We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with experience in both programming and operating. The ideal candidate will have strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in mathematics and mechanics. A commitment to safety and quality is essential. The goal of this role is to ensure consistent production, maintain high-quality standards, and contribute to optimizing operational procedures.
- Set up, edit programs, and operate CNC milling and turning centers
- Inspect and verify parts and configurations against plan requirements using precision measuring tools to high-tolerance standards
- Read and interpret mechanical detail and assembly drawings, including GD&T standards, weld symbols, and non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent OR a minimum of 3 years of relevant technical experience
- Hands-on machining experience or completion of formal machining training
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, and diagrams, as well as perform basic layout functions
- Availability to work all shifts as assigned
- Must provide and maintain personal basic hand tools
- Experience setting up and operating vertical and/or horizontal turning centers, lathes, and milling machines
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Experience with Mazak equipment
- Completion of vocational, technical, community college, or apprenticeship programs
- Training in machine technology or completion of the Shipbuilding/Marine Advanced Manufacturing Institute (SAMI) program
- Prior military experience in a related field
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with effective problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment to achieve organizational goals.- Ability to work 10+ hours per day, up to 7 days/week
- Ability to work in both hot and cold conditions
- Ability to work in confined spaces if needed
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work at heights
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and lift up to 20 pounds overhead.
