We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Electrician to join our Blackfalds, Alberta operations. This hands-on role focuses on wiring, testing, and documenting control systems that include PLCs, instrumentation, and hydraulic components. You’ll also support compliance and certification efforts (CSA/ATEX/IECEx), contribute to electrical drawings and P&IDs, and may be involved in field work, including international travel.
This is a dynamic position that also includes supporting other facility duties as needed.
- Wire and install control panels, junction boxes, and field devices (PLCs, sensors, etc.)
- Configure and validate PLC hardware, I/O systems, and control software
- Test and troubleshoot sensors, wiring, and industrial communications (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
- Perform instrumentation tasks such as hydraulic tubing, sensor fittings, and pressure transducer setups
- Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
- Liaise with certifying bodies (CSA, ATEX, IECEx) to support equipment approval processes
- Participate in on-site commissioning and international travel to other facilities as required
- Assist with general facility responsibilities, including shop or maintenance work as requested
- Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician certification (Red Seal preferred)
- 3+ years of industrial or oilfield electrical experience- Strong understanding of low-voltage control systems and PLCs
- Ability to read and generate electrical drawings and P&IDs
- Competence with industrial PC setup and software installation
- Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeter, megger)
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and code compliance
- Instrumentation experience, especially hydraulic tubing, pressure systems, or sensor integration
- Familiarity with hazardous area electrical installations (CSA, ATEX, or IECEx)
- Experience working with regulatory or certifying bodies on equipment compliance
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and willingness to travel (domestic and international)
