About the Role
We are currently seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support our dynamic team. As an integral member of the group, you will have the opportunity to design instrumentation and systems used to monitor and control challenging and critical process systems. Your pride in ensuring that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently, and safely will be a vital part of this diverse and interesting position.
Key Responsibilities:
•Develops piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and implements project specifications
•Provides input into instrumentation and controls deliverables throughout all project phases
•Assists in project scheduling as well as in the development of instrumentation and controls estimates
•Prepares instrument technical specifications, instrument data sheets and requisition quotes
•Prepares bid evaluations for instrument & control system hardware
•Performs instrument design calculations
•Participates in HAZOP/SIL analysis
•Provides construction support, interacts with contractors and project stakeholders, answers RFI’s.
•Assists in the commissioning and start-up of gas plants, compressor stations, pipelines and wellsites
•Prepares control narratives and philosophy documents as well shutdown key/cause and effect deliverables
•Prepares written scopes of work for instrument and controls contractors
•Assists in FEED activities such as cost estimates, scheduling, cost of service estimates, and feasibility studies.
•Checks and reviews vendor drawings and engineering deliverables against client specifications/industry codes and standards to ensure technical accuracy
•Mentors Junior and Intermediate staff in the department
Skills and Qualifications:
•Post-secondary education with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation and Instrumentation or related field
•Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation or eligibility for P. Eng registration with EGBC
•At least 7 years of solid Automation / Instrumentation and Controls experience
•Strong knowledge of engineering codes, standards and guidelines including ASME B31.3/B31.8, API RP 500/505, ISA, CSA C22.1/Z662, ANSI, IEC, NFPA, CENELEC
•Proficiency with programming PLC, DCS, RTU and/or SCADA systems (ABB 800XA, Honeywell Experion/PKS, DeltaV, Allen-Bradley, etc.)
•Proficiency with engineering software and engineering database programs (Microsoft Office, AVEVA, Elecdes, InTools/Smart Plant Instrumentation, etc.)
•Proven ability to provide technical direction and/or lead teams
•Competent leadership abilities and excellent communications skills
•Strong initiative with the ability to multi-task and to quickly adapt to project dynamics in a fast-paced environment
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
•Ability to travel and work at site as required
•Preference will be given to those with experience in natural gas and LNG but is not mandatory

The salary for this role is based on an average of 37.5 hours a week. The estimated range is between $117,000 - $224,000/annually, depending on skills and experience.
