Opportunity Summary
The IC&E Technician / Operations and Maintenance is integral to the reliable operation of turbine control systems, electrical systems, and switchgear, ensuring optimal performance across the plant. This position involves performing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on GE 7B gas turbines and auxiliary systems, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools like Fluke and Trex instrumentation to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. Additionally, the technician will support plant operations, uphold safety standards, and contribute to ongoing improvements through hands-on maintenance, technical expertise, and collaboration with the plant team.
Primary Functions
Your scope of responsibility as IC&E Technician / Operations and Maintenance will include the following primary functions:
•Troubleshoot and analyze turbine control systems, auxiliary equipment, electrical systems, and switchgear ranging from 24V instrumentation to 480V motors and MCC (Motor Control Center) buckets.
•Utilize advanced instrumentation equipment, including Fluke 789, Fluke 87, Fluke 725, Trex, PieCal 820/830/850, and oscilloscopes, for diagnostics and maintenance.
•Read, interpret, and troubleshoot control logic, ladder logic, and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) diagrams, with a specific focus on GE 7B gas turbine controls and associated systems.
•Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on electrical systems, including troubleshooting and maintaining electrical circuits, switchgear, wiring, motors, and other components.
•Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on all major equipment and systems, including GE 7B gas turbine auxiliary skids.
•Inspect, repair, install, and remove motors, generators, transformers, switches, switchgear, wiring, and control equipment for systems up to 480 volts.
•Adhere to, support, and comply with all company safety and environmental policies, ensuring that employees, contractors, and visitors follow safety practices and regulatory guidelines. Understand and follow proper procedures for handling, controlling, and shipping hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
•Operate under the supervision of the Control Room Operator (CRO), including startups, shutdowns, and control of auxiliary and supporting equipment. Read meters, gauges, and automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions.
•Complete and review logs and reports on flows, pressures, temperature levels, and other key parameters, and communicate with incoming shift personnel to confirm equipment status, load schedules, and operational changes.
•Monitor plant parameters for trends and abnormalities, taking corrective action as needed, and report abnormalities to the CRO and/or Plant Manager to minimize safety hazards, downtime, or damage to plant equipment.
•Maintain plant areas, shop equipment, tools, and grounds in a clean and safe condition at all times. Monitor and perform maintenance work, including disassembling, repairing, and assembling small to medium-sized equipment, lubricating machinery, and diagnosing malfunctions.
•Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, man lifts, machine tools, and electrical test equipment while performing operation and maintenance tasks.
•Read, interpret, and apply technical information, including electrical drawings, manufacturer data, operating procedures, maintenance guidelines, and Plant Standing Orders. Participate in training to improve personal skills and support co-workers’ development for job-related areas or career advancement.
•Document equipment issues, generate work orders, assist CROs in tracking maintenance progress, and coordinate contractor activities on-site.
•Provide shift coverage as needed to maintain plant operational readiness.
•Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Working Relationships
The IC&E Technician - Operations & Maintenance reports to the Plant Manager and cooperates with all plant personnel.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
Compensation
The starting compensation for this position ranges from $43 to $55 per hour, and will include an annual performance bonus. This broad range accommodates varying levels of experience and expertise among candidates.
Job Qualifications
•Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school.
•Relevant work experience in the power generation, industrial, or manufacturing sector, specifically in turbine operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical, instrumentation and electrical systems.
•Demonstrated experience in operating turbine generators and auxiliary equipment, including start-up and shutdown procedures. Familiarity with GE 7B turbines and associated controls is a strong plus.
•Hands-on experience with Fluke, PieCal, Trex, Oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools for troubleshooting instrumentation systems.
•Proven ability to inspect, repair, and maintain electrical systems up to 480 volts, including motors, transformers, and MCC buckets.
•Proficiency in reading and interpreting ladder logic, PLC diagrams, and troubleshooting control logic systems.
•Skilled in interpreting P&IDs, F&IDs, blueprints, and wiring diagrams, with the ability to use them effectively in troubleshooting and site walkdowns.
