Key Project Requirements
• 5+ years IC&E experience including calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical distribution equipment.
• Prior work in a combined cycle power plant and familiarity with GE 7FA or 7HA combustion turbines.
• Experience with GE Mark VIe control systems and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
Job Summary
PIC Group is seeking an experienced Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical (IC&E) Technician for a combined cycle power plant in NJ. The IC&E Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and electrical systems. This position plays a key role in supporting safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while assisting with maintenance planning, outage activities, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems and instrumentation.
• Perform maintenance on Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLCs, and related components.
• Maintain and update instrumentation calibration records and support facility calibration programs.
• Support both control room and field operations, as needed.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment modifications accurately.
• Assist with preventive maintenance programs, budgeting, and SOP development.
• Support outage planning and execution, including coordination with vendors and contractors.
Job Requirements
• Strong Strong working knowledge of power plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical distribution.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining PLCs, DCS, and electrical systems up to 4,160V.
• Familiar with LOTO procedures, arc flash safety standards, and hazardous energy control.
• Capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Work in confined spaces, heights, and extreme temperatures as required in a power plant.
• Must wear and properly use PPE, including arc flash gear, gloves, and safety glasses.
Education / Experience
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $55-$60.
