Hydrogeologist (Numerical Modeler) - Location Flexible ,
SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.
We are seeking a Hydrogeologist (Numerical Modeler).
Description Of Responsibilities
•
Construction and calibration of numerical groundwater models for mining projects
•
Preparation of technical reports and presentations
•
Advise on mine dewatering in underground and open pit mines, water supply, pit-lake infilling, site closure, and hydrologic impacts of mining
•
Efficiently use groundwater modeling software such as FEFLOW and/or MODFLOW
•
Create and maintain client relationships in worldwide projects
•
Work in a team environment
•
Travel to provide occasional support to field programs
•
Other duties as assigned
Essential Requirements
•
Bachelor`s degree in geology, hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental studies, or similar earth science (Master`s degree in hydrogeology is preferred)
•
Knowledge of principals of inverse modeling, stochastic modeling, and familiarity with the PEST suite
•
Three to five years of experience in professional consulting
•
Mine dewatering experience in underground and open pit mines
•
Deep understanding on aquifer tests and different site characterization methods
•
Three years of expert applicability in groundwater modeling software MODFLOW/FEFLOW
•
Ability to manage and process large datasets, proficiency with MS Office suite
Preferred Skills And Qualifications
•
Experience with one or more desktop programming languages (VBA and/or Python)
•
Numerical modeling of unsaturated groundwater conditions and solute transport
•
Ability to interrogate data obtained from mining operations
•
Experience with unsaturated flow modeling and mine dewatering experience
$75,000-$90,000 per annum
