Our Hydrogeology Group
Our hydrogeology group differs from conventional hydrogeological consulting firms in that our work is fully integrated with our in-house geotechnical engineering studies. Integration begins with field characterization programs that address both geotechnical and hydrogeologic needs, including numerical studies that couple geotechnical stability and pore pressure models. We also conduct classical hydrogeological studies such as characterization and testing of groundwater systems.
Commonly used software includes FEFLOW, AQTESOLV, ArcGIS/QGIS, AutoCAD, Surfer, and Microsoft Excel. Commonly used programming languages include Python, C++, and Fortran.
Job Description
•Compilation, reduction, and analysis of hydrogeologic, geologic, and geotechnical data in support of advanced modeling work using spreadsheets, databases, GIS, and other relevant software and tools.
•Support senior staff in building conceptual and numerical hydrogeologic models.
•Assist with calibration and coupling of geotechnical and hydrogeologic models.
•Additional office duties include preparation of CAD drawings and geologic wireframes, authoring written summaries detailing work conducted, and assisting with preparation of proposals and reports.
•Field work includes well/aquifer testing using a variety of methods, installation of fully grouted piezometers, and installation of open standpipe piezometers.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, or related discipline
•Course work/experience using AutoCAD, ArcGIS, FEFLOW, MODFLOW
•The position involves domestic and international travel
•Professional registration considered a plus
•All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S
•Ability to travel for field work
•Computer literacy, experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•Familiarity with programming languages, including Python, MATLAB, and/or C/C++ —a valuable asset in adapting and optimizing processes in a technical consulting environment
•Course work in groundwater modeling and geotechnical or mining engineering is considered a plus
•Ready to work with a safety-first mindset both in and out of the field
