Position Title: Hydro Excavation Laborer II
Pay Rate:
$26.00 - $28.00 DOE

Essential Functions

The Hydro Excavation Laborer II are CDL driver/operator crews that are responsible for going into residential and commercial areas working on underground utilities and working with their crew to complete tasks for the day.
Roles And Responsibilities•Operates and maintains hydro excavation equipment, including high-pressure water wands and vacuum systems.
•Assists in safely exposing underground utilities without damaging infrastructure.
•Follows strict safety procedures in accordance with OSHA standards and site-specific guidelines
•CDL driver/operator with equipment setup and hose handling.
•Performs manual labor including trenching, shoveling, and backfilling job sites.
•Completes daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of hydro vac equipment.
•Ensures job site cleanliness and compliance with environmental safety regulations.
•Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure job efficiency.
•Delivers high performance on fast-paced projects while supporting Hydro Excavation Operator and site safety requirements.
•Assists crew leader in construction, reconstruction and maintenance work.
•Assists equipment operators by swamping, hand digging and locating underground obstructions.
•Works with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners and other industry tools.
•Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
•Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
•Maintains paperwork during the day including DVIR and driver’s logbook.
•Ensures the truck has current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance.
•Assists with setup and breakdown of hydro vac trucks and job site safety per company protocols.
•Maintains and cleans tools, equipment, and trucks to ensure safe and proper operation.
•Works safely potholing, trenching, and daylighting operations using high-pressure water, vacuum systems, and any other equipment.
•Follows detailed instructions to complete excavation work while avoiding damage to existing infrastructure.
•Adheres to OSHA and company safety standards, using appropriate PPE and hazard recognition.
•Works in various weather conditions and job environments, including confined spaces and roadside projects.
•Communicates with team leaders and clients to ensure accurate completion of excavation tasks.
•Performs routine maintenance checks and reported equipment issues to supervisors promptly.
•Safely works within the traffic control and job site cleanup as needed to maintain safe working conditions.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience And Education
•Class A CDL is required for this position
•Approximately 1 year of experience in a laboring position in the utilities field.
•High School Diploma or equivalent required
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
•Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
•Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
