Job Description Summary

Reporting to the HVDC FACTS Service Operations Manager, the Customer Applications Engineer and Tendering manager will serve as the point to develop technical solutions and technical offers to Utility and Industrial customers within North America (NAM).

Will support the inquiry to order (ITO) process in response to customer requests for quotations.

Responsibilities:

In this role the Customer Applications Engineer and Tendering Manager will:

Serve as the technological point person for the business for the entire Inquiry to Order (ITO) phase. Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions (configuration, performance estimation, economics, etc.) as part of the pre-ITO (requisition) process while interfacing with the commercial team. Drive proposal process from lead thru request for quote (RFQ) to proposal and order.

Manage mainly complex FACTS Service offers for North America and other regions from the opportunity identification to the execution of the purchase order.
Provide technical support to create subcontractors and power equipment bid packages
Collaborate closely with the Sales Managers to prepare and submit comprehensive technical and commercial tenders to customers.
Augment the commercial team for customer presentations of technical capabilities and proposals
Deliver high technical quality of GE’s proposals including processes & programs that make the proposals more accepted (compliant or clarified), effective, and cost competitive to the cusomer with reduced overall-performance risk. Proposal must be clear, provide customer value, and demonstrate how GE meets their specification requirement.
Responsible for technical and commerical proposal accuracy including technical specifications & clarifications/ assumptions/ exceptions, quantifying design and deliverables, installation work scope definition, cost allocation, bill of materials, and estimation of engineering, installation and testing/commissioning based on customer specifications and/or industry standards, sourcing, and historical data.
Be able to lead a complex bid process and liaise in a timely manner with the different departments and internal business units to make sure GE can answer respecting the deadlines and complying with the customer request or at least listing and negotiating the exceptions
Write technical specifications for equipment and services, working with PM's & Sourcing to manage quotes and vendor responses.
Work with purchasing to support and obtain quotes for service estimates and with engineering to make sure GE's offer is complying with the customer's RFQ
Utilize SFDC/SPEAK4GE for opportunity creation and management of the opportunity through the commercial process.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with exposure to industrial / utility / generation/renewable market
Minimum of 5 years of applications engineering and/or tendering
Minimum 6 years of experience with design, studies, specifications, estimating, and construction experience in substation, transmission, or power generation projects for the power generation/distribution/transmission industry
Ability and willingness to travel 30% of the time, including international, and must comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies


Desired Characteristics:

Bilingual English/French
Basic expertise in the design of Power Transmission and Distribution equipment & systems, electrical substation, and protection devices. Knowledge of equipment installation, construction, and field operations.
Knowledge of high-voltage systems in the areas of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) power systems, Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), Conventional AC substations.
Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
Proven experience in services, sales and customer facing roles with multi-million-dollar budgets & performance-based Service contracts
Good presence in front of the customer with demonstrated commercial experienceStress Tolerance related to many deadlines to be respected;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, gain acceptance and negotiate successful outcomes with customers.
Leadership skills (strategic vision, convincing & influencing) is mandatory

The salary range for this position is 98,400.00 - 131,200.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus. 98,400.00 - 131,200.00 - 164,000.00 USD Annual (US ONLY) / 105,300.00 - 131,600.00 - 157,900.00 CAD Annual (CANADA ONLY)

Responsabilités :

Dans ce rôle, l'ingénieur des applications client et le responsable des appels d'offres :

Servir de personne-point technologique pour l'entreprise pendant toute la phase de demande de commande (ITO). Fournir un soutien technique pour créer des offres de sous-traitants et d’équipements électriques
Collaborer étroitement avec les directeurs commerciaux pour préparer et soumettre des appels d’offres techniques et commerciaux complets aux clients.
Augmenter l'équipe commerciale pour les présentations clients de capacités techniques et de propositions
Offrir une qualité technique élevée des propositions de GE, y compris des processus et des programmes qui rendent les propositions plus acceptées (conformes ou clarifiées), efficaces et compétitives en termes de coûts pour le client avec un risque de performance global réduit. La proposition doit être claire, apporter de la valeur au client et démontrer comment GE répond à ses exigences en matière de spécifications.
Responsable de l'exactitude des propositions techniques et commerciales, y compris les spécifications techniques et les clarifications/hypothèses/exceptions, la quantification de la conception et des livrables, la définition de la portée des travaux d'installation, la répartition des coûts, la nomenclature et l'estimation de l'ingénierie, de l'installation et des tests/mise en service sur la base des spécifications du client et/ou des normes de l'industrie, de l'approvisionnement et des données historiques.
Être capable de mener un processus d'appel d'offres complexe et d'assurer la liaison en temps opportun avec les différents départements et unités commerciales internes pour s'assurer que GE peut répondre en respectant les délais et en se conformant à la demande du client ou au moins en énumérant et en négociant les exceptions
Rédigez des spécifications techniques pour les équipements et les services, en collaboration avec PM's & Sourcing pour gérer les devis et les réponses des fournisseurs.
Travaillez avec les achats pour soutenir et obtenir des devis pour les estimations de service et avec l'ingénierie pour vous assurer que l'offre de GE est conforme à la demande de devis du client
Utilisez SFDC/SPEAK4GE pour la création d’opportunités et la gestion de l’opportunité tout au long du processus commercial.


Qualifications requises :

Licence en génie électrique ou mécanique avec exposition au marché industriel / des services publics / de la production/des énergies renouvelables
Minimum de 5 ans d'ingénierie des applications et/ou d'appel d'offres
Minimum 6 ans d'expérience en conception, études, spécifications, estimation et expérience en construction dans des projets de sous-stations, de transport ou de production d'électricité pour l'industrie de la production/distribution/transmission d'électricité
Capacité et volonté de voyager 30 % du temps, y compris international, et doit se conformer à toutes les politiques pertinentes en matière de voyages d'affaires et de taxes


Caractéristiques souhaitées :

Bilingue anglais/français
Expertise de base dans la conception d'équipements et de systèmes de transport et de distribution d'énergie, de sous-stations électriques et de dispositifs de protection. Connaissance de l’installation, de la construction et des opérations sur le terrain des équipements.
Connaissance des systèmes haute tension dans les domaines des systèmes électriques à courant continu haute tension (HVDC), des systèmes de transmission CA flexibles (FACTS), des sous-stations CA conventionnelles.
A une connaissance des meilleures pratiques et de la manière dont son propre domaine s'intègre aux autres ; a une connaissance pratique de la concurrence et des facteurs qui la différencient sur le marché.
Utilise le jugement pour prendre des décisions ou résoudre des tâches ou des problèmes modérément complexes dans les domaines de la gestion opérationnelle/des produits, de la fabrication, de la technologie ou de l'ingénierie.
Expérience avérée dans les services, les ventes et les rôles en contact avec la clientèle avec des budgets de plusieurs millions de dollars et des contrats de service basés sur la performance
Bonne présence devant le client avec une expérience commerciale démontréeTolérance au stress liée à de nombreux délais à respecter ;
Excellentes compétences en communication et en relations interpersonnelles, y compris la capacité d’établir et d’entretenir des relations avec un éventail de parties prenantes internes et externes, d’être accepté et de négocier des résultats positifs avec les clients.
Les compétences en leadership (vision stratégique, conviction et influence) sont obligatoires
