Summary
The HVAC Estimator is responsible for preparing estimates analyzing documentation, identifying required scopes of work, communicating with department heads, clients, subcontractors and vendors, compiling cost estimates and documentation necessary to present to the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Maintains an environment which adheres to safety, inclusiveness, career progression, teamwork, and customer focus.
•Prepare estimates for various commercial and industrial projects through utilization of estimating programs and other industry tools, while ensuring a thorough scope is developed for each bid.
•Communicate with general contractors and customers regarding design and mechanical requirements.
•Develop budgetary estimates as requested.
•Coordinate with vendors, engineers, and subcontractors to put together pricing for estimates.
•Attend initial walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings with general contractors and customers.
•Have a thorough understanding of building codes and regulations and ensure that these are integrated into bids.
•Follow-up on all bids to determine viable backlog.
•Develop strong working relationships with customers and general contractors.
•Coordinate with the Project Managers to ensure that work is scheduled according to the general contractor or customer’s expectations.
•Conduct project turnover meetings.
•Determine cost effective ways to bid on jobs while remaining within specifications and customer requirements.
•Performs all other duties as requested.
•Follows all company policies, procedures, and safety rules. Always conducts self in a professional, ethical, and courteous manner as a representative of company.

Education and/or Experience
•2 to 5 years Estimating experience required.
•5 years of HVAC experience or knowledge required.
Language Skills
•Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
•Ability to write correspondence.
•Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
•Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Reasoning Ability
•Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
•Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of
•Database software, Internet software, Estimating software, accounting software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
•Current driver’s license to travel to various customer locations and job sites or be able to provide own transportation.
