An HVAC service technician's job is to diagnose, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential and commercial settings. This includes troubleshooting issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring systems operate efficiently. They may also install new systems, replace parts, and advise customers on system upkeep. Key Responsibilities:
•Installation, Maintenance, and Repair:Installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC equipment, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation systems.
•Troubleshooting and Diagnosis:Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in HVAC systems.
•Preventative Maintenance:Performing routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning filters, checking for leaks, and lubricating parts.
•Repair and Replacement:Repairing or replacing defective parts, including electrical components and wiring.
•Customer Interaction:Communicating with customers to understand their needs, explaining repairs, and providing recommendations for maintenance.
•Record Keeping:Maintaining accurate records of work performed, including time spent and materials used.
•Safety Compliance:Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
•Inventory Management:Maintaining an organized inventory of tools and supplies.
Additional Duties May Include:
•Warranty Services: Performing warranty services on installed systems.
•Emergency Repairs: Responding to emergency repair calls and providing prompt service.
•Training and Certification: Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and technologies.
•Blueprint and Diagram Interpretation: Using blueprints and wiring diagrams to install and repair systems.
•Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service and building strong customer relationships.
