Summary
The HR department for MEMS & MEPUSA is seeking a Human Resources Intern for a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2026 in the Galleria area of Houston, TX. This internship will provide on-the-job experience in compliance, recruiting, talent management and external marketing. The HR Intern will gain a better understanding of various Human Resource functions and apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world practical setting.
MEPUSA is an operating E&P company with a focus on finding and developing safe, reliable, clean and efficient energy for the world. We maintain non-operated and operated assets throughout multiple shale plays. MEMS is an energy marketing and services company with a commodity portfolio that includes LNG, natural gas, power and crude oil.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Learn application of employment law and compliance, especially regarding proper maintenance of employee files, work authorization, work agreements and other form / document management, while maintaining confidentiality
- Participate in the recruiting process, including posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews and coordinating the recruiting process via ATS
- Assist in research and creation of job summaries and career ladders as needed
- Support the HR department with various projects including, but not limited to, data & reporting, employee engagement, administrative support, onboarding, offboarding, etc.
- Create and prepare external marketing and promotional materials to promote the Company’s brand
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Customer service experience/knowledge
- Computer skills including intermediate level proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to build strong professional relationships and collaborate effectively
- Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources with an expected graduation of December 2026 or May 2027
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater
- Major GPA of 3.2 or greater
- Senior standing
- Fluent verbal and written skills in English.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Physical demands include:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and may need to routinely move around to communicate with different groups
