MSALABS is an experienced global provider of geochemical laboratory services to the exploration and mining industries in Canada, the USA and around the world. We have a rapidly growing network of laboratories in key mining regions around the world to limit lead times and transit costs and we employ the latest hi-tech analysis equipment.
We are looking for a dedicated and detail orientated self-starter who has the following skills and experience:
Responsibilities:
HSE
•Conduct regular field safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
•Identify and mitigate workplace hazards, ensuring compliance with MSHA. OSHA, and company safety standards.
•Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
•Deliver safety meetings, toolbox talks, and assist with training programs.
•Attend and contribute to regular operations meetings, such as weekly safety meetings and production meetings.
•Monitor and enforce the proper use of PPE and safe work practices.
•Assist in emergency response preparedness and drills when needed.
•Maintain accurate safety documentation and generate reports, including all environmental parameters/indicators.
•Maintain and manage critical registers (ie. inspection schedules, hazard boards, calibrated equipment, etc.)
•Provide HSE mentoring to operational personnel.
•Highlight areas where training/certification is required to meet legislative requirements, approved codes of practice, or industry standards.
Incident Reporting
•Assist and provide back up for workplace incident reporting and return to work plans.
•Verify the incident log monthly and ensure the closure of all incidents following investigative process.
•Compile and distribute lessons learned, near misses, and safety bulletins.
•Ensure all non-conformances are closed out in a timely manner.
Legal & Regulatory
•Maintain updated electronic copies of the various Acts & Regulations.
•Liaise with the local Department of Labor, EHP's, MSHA, and more.
•Ensure compliance with all company policies, standards, procedures, and rules.
•Ensure that occupational hygiene survey's and medical surveillance take place as per local legislation.
•Monitor results of hygiene survey's and medical surveillance to ensure control programs remain effective.
•Evaluate and recommend controls for health hazards in the workplace through inspections, surveys, research, and analysis.
Requirements:
Knowledge & Skills
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
•Strong knowledge of MSHA and OSHA.
•Experience reading technical, legal and scientific documents, journals, reports, regulations, and statutes.
•Knowledge on Hazardous chemicals and respirable dusts.
•Knowledge of industrial hygiene, safety, and health.
•Detail oriented and able to work well under pressure.
•Able to make and implement difficult decisions
•Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written.)
•Knowledge of lab operations is preferred but not required.
Training & Education
•Diploma or Degree in relevant tertiary qualification.
•Industrial Hygienist I Qualification.
•OHSA-10 Course developed by OSHA.
•OSHA-30 Course developed by OSHA.
•Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Certificate.
Experience
•3 to 5 years industry experience or equivalent - industrial/ construction/ mining/ exploration.
•Experience with Radiation Safety is preferred.
