Job Title: Heavy Duty Mechanic with Line Boring Experience
Locations: Multiple mine sites in B.C
Base Rate: $62.50/hr.
OT: 4 hours daily paid out at $93.75/hr.
Schedule: 14X14 - 12 hour days
Night Shift Premium: $1.25/hr.
Accommodations: Company housing is provided at no additional cost
Meal Allowance: $60 per day
Flights Paid: Yes, fly into the location from any major airport in Canada
Tools Provided: Yes
Travel Time: Paid to and from the site daily and at each end of your set

Big Country Equipment is a BC-based heavy equipment service and repair company that works with resource-based customers in the construction, forestry, mining, and oil and gas sectors in Western Canada. Formed in 2017, we have rapidly grown from a one-truck operation to over 100 employees and a fleet of over 30 fully tooled service trucks. We provide service to customers throughout Western Canada 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary Role: Line Boring Technician
•Perform line boring to repair worn or damaged bores, including the setup of portable line boring machines and equipment.
•Accurately measure, align, and bore holes for pins, bushings, and other components on heavy equipment.
•Bore various diameters to precise tolerances, restoring equipment to original specifications.
•Work with a wide range of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and mining gear.
•Utilize welding skills to build up and prepare surfaces for boring when necessary.
•Document the line boring process, including measurements and tolerances achieved, for customer records and future maintenance.
•Ensure high-quality finishes and correct tolerances to prevent equipment failure and improve longevity.
Secondary Role: Heavy Duty Mechanic
•Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various types and brands of heavy equipment.
•Utilize computerized and other testing equipment to determine repairs and create detailed service reports.
•Transmission and drive-train repairs: repairing or replacing transmission components, differential gears, and drive shafts.
•Interpret and complete both scheduled and unscheduled work orders.
•Contribute to the ongoing reliability of all heavy equipment and complete preventative maintenance requirements.
•Test the repaired equipment to verify proper maintenance.
•Perform heavy-duty mechanic work as required, in addition to line boring.
•Make recommendations regarding repairs and methods for improvement.
Requirements:
•Must have at least 3 years of experience with line boring.
•Must have a minimum of 3 years of recent experience working in the field, preferably working out of a service truck with off-road construction and mining equipment.
•Experience with mining equipment will be considered an asset.
•Machine brands preferably worked on are Hitachi, CAT, John Deere, and Komatsu.
•Must be a Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Duty Off-Road Technician.
•Having a Machinist Red Seal would be considered an asset.
•Having a Welding Red Seal would be considered an asset.
•Strong welding skills and experience with portable line boring equipment setup.
•Solid experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting.
•Solid electrical and hydraulic experience.
•Physically fit – heavy lifting required.
Must Be Able To:
•Must not want to work as a subcontractor; we are not offering this at this time.
•Pass an 8-panel drug test (including marijuana).
•Pass an alcohol breath test.
•Pass a background check.
•Communicate both verbally and in writing.
