The Desoto Group, LLC is seeking a dedicated and motivated Groundman to join our dynamic electrical transmission crew. In this vital role, you will support our skilled operators and lineworkers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of utility infrastructure. Your contributions will help ensure the reliable delivery of electricity to our communities, enhancing the lives of countless individuals and businesses.
As a Groundman, you will be responsible for assisting with the safe operation of equipment, maintaining work sites, and following safety protocols to create a secure work environment. You will play a key role in transporting materials, tools, and equipment, as well as helping to set up and dismantle job sites. Your ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented atmosphere will be essential as you learn and grow within our organization.

Groundmen support Linemen in tasks like assembling crossarms, splicing wires, and handling materials.
They load, unload, and hoist materials using handlines and other equipment.
Groundmen may dig holes for poles and anchors, install ground rods, and clear vegetation around structures.
They may operate trucks, power equipment, and hand tools related to line work.
Groundmen adhere to safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and understanding of minimum approach distances.
They perform various manual tasks, including cleanup, organization, and maintenance of tools and equipment.
This position provides opportunities to learn about line construction methods, materials, and safety procedures.
Transmission Groundmen perform physically demanding work outdoors in various weather conditions.
They must understand and follow safety protocols and be able to work with high voltage systems safely.
Groundmen should be familiar with the proper use and maintenance of hand tools.
They need to be able to communicate effectively, including using company radios.
Groundmen work closely with Linemen and other crew members, requiring good teamwork skills.
This is an entry-level position, so a willingness to learn new skills and techniques is crucial
