Henderson Municipal Power & Light (HMP&L) is seeking an Electric Utility Groundman for its Transmission & Distribution Electrical Department. The Groundman is classified as a pre-apprentice position. After gaining experience as a Groundman, the individual will move into the HMP&L four-year lineman apprentice program. Minimum requirements include: residency in Henderson County or relocation to Henderson County; high school diploma or GED; certification obtained by an APPA approved Lineworker Training School; ability to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance; must pass a drug/alcohol screen, physical exam, and background check upon conditional offer of employment; possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no DUI convictions in the previous 5 years. Preferred requirements include: certification as Kentucky Basic Work Zone Traffic Control & Flagger; CPR certification; First Aid and AED certification. Starting annual wage is contingent upon experience, and includes paid vacation, sick leave, health benefits, and other benefits.
